Coaching & Mentorship Programs

Street Smart Youth Mentoring: The "Big Brother" Program

When youth are incarcerated or heading down a path toward the justice system, traditional counseling often fails because they can spot insincerity from a mile away. They don’t need another lecture, they need someone who has walked in their shoes, who can listen to them and understand the pressure of the streets. This allows them to explore their own potential which is longer lasting in treatment.

Led by Gilbert, our mentorship service provides real-world guidance, deep accountability, and a blueprint for a different life.

Key Program Focuses

  • Lived-Experience Mentorship: Gilbert connects with youth on their level, building genuine trust as a "big brother" figure who speaks their language and understands their environment without judgment.

  • Gang Diversion & Street De-escalation: Direct, actionable strategies to help youth safely disengage from street dynamics, resist peer pressure, and de-escalate conflicts before they turn into court dates.

  • Court & Incarceration Support: Navigating the reality of the juvenile justice system, providing stable guidance during confinement, and preparing youth for a successful return to their communities.

  • Practical Life & Career Mapping: Shifting focus from survival mode to the future by helping youth set goals, build professional habits, and identify positive outlets for their talents.

Specific Program Information

Who We Serve

This program is specifically designed for youth and young adults (ages 12–25) who are:

  • Currently incarcerated in juvenile facilities or on probation.

  • Showing early warning signs of gang recruitment or street involvement.

  • Struggling with behavioral issues at school or home due to community influences.

The "Big Brother" Philosophy

Gilbert doesn’t sit behind a desk and take notes. His approach is hands-on, proactive, and deeply personal. As a mentor, Gilbert acts as a consistent anchor for youth who may lack positive male role models. He provides:

  1. A Safe Space to Speak Freely: Youth can talk about street pressures, fears, and frustrations without worrying about being judged or reported to authorities.

  2. Hard Truths & Accountability: While supportive, Gilbert holds youth strictly accountable to their choices, challenging the "street logic" that leads to prison.

  3. Round-the-Clock Guidance: Mentoring isn't a 9-to-5 job. Gilbert is there to guide youth through critical decision-making moments in real time.

Collaboration with Families and Legal Teams

We don't work in a vacuum. Gilbert collaborates closely with defense attorneys, probation officers, and families to support the youth’s legal mitigation and personal rehabilitation goals, providing updates on progress and active behavior changes. Our intervention also involves working closely with families to give them the tools and strategies, needed to support them and empower changes that families are making together.
